Life Migration Therapy is a trauma-responsive and culturally affirming boutique psychotherapy practice seeking an experienced Couples & Relationship Therapist to join our growing virtual practice as a part-time 1099 independent contractor. Our work is rooted in liberation-oriented, decolonial, and culturally affirming approaches to care. We recognize that relationships do not exist in a vacuum. Culture, race, migration, identity, trauma, attachment, family, and intergenerational experiences, gender, sexuality, belonging, power, and broader systems can influence how people experience connection, conflict, intimacy, and healing. The Therapist We're Looking For We are looking for a relational, culturally grounded, and trauma-responsive clinician who is comfortable doing depth-oriented couples work - not simply teaching communication skills.The ideal clinician understands that relationship conflict may also carry stories of attachment, trauma, migration, racialized experiences, cultural expectations, gender roles, family-of-origin experiences, intergenerational patterns, identity, belonging, and power. You approach these complexities with curiosity, cultural humility, and respect rather than assumptions. You are LGBTQ+ affirming and comfortable working across diverse cultures, identities, families, and relationship structures. What You'll Do • Provide virtual psychotherapy to couples and relationship clients. • Assess relationship concerns and collaboratively develop individualized treatment goals. • Use evidence-informed couples and relational approaches to address conflict, communication, intimacy, attachment, trust, and other relationship concerns. • Integrate trauma-responsive, culturally affirming, and systemic perspectives into clinical work. • Recognize how culture, identity, migration, family-of-origin experiences, intergenerational patterns, and broader systems may influence relational dynamics. • Maintain timely, accurate, ethical, and clinically appropriate documentation. • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with applicable professional, ethical, and telehealth requirements. • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and ongoing development in couples and relationship therapy. Qualifications • Active, unrestricted independent clinical license in Maryland OR Washington, DC, plus at least one additional U.S. state or jurisdiction. • Independent license such as LMFT, LCSW/LCSW-C/LICSW, LCPC/LPC/LMHC, or state equivalent. • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience. • Demonstrated experience providing couples and relationship therapy. • Formal training in at least one established couples modality, such as EFT/EFCT, Gottman Method, Imago Relationship Therapy, Relational Life Therapy (RLT), or another established couples-focused approach. • Meaningful grounding in liberation-oriented, decolonial, culturally affirming, and/or anti-oppressive psychotherapy. • LGBTQ+ affirming and respectful of diverse identities, cultures, families, and relationship structures. • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills and ability to practice independently in a virtual environment. • Maintain individual professional liability/malpractice insurance meeting practice requirements. • Capacity to accept evening and/or weekend clients. Final candidates will complete applicable background screening, professional license verification, and credentialing requirements.
Salary
$189 per 75 min session
Benefits
Clinicians receive 60% of collected session fees. Our standard 90-minute couples session begins at $325, resulting in clinician compensation beginning at $195 per completed 90-minute session. Session fees may be higher based on clinician experience, specialization, licensure jurisdiction, and applicable market rates. Where a clinician-specific session rate is higher, the clinician continues to receive 60% of the applicable collected session fee. Life Migration Therapy anticipates supporting an initial referral volume of approximately 4 couples per week, based on referral volume, client-clinician fit, clinician availability, scheduling needs, and client demand, with opportunity to grow over time. • Administrative and practice infrastructure. • Marketing and referral support. • Complimentary monthly clinical consultation. • $500 annual professional-development stipend after completing 12 months with the practice, subject to practice guidelines. • Fully virtual, private-pay practice environment. • A practice culture that values clinical autonomy, cultural humility, thoughtful clinical work, and sustainable caseloads This opportunity is structured as a part-time 1099 independent contractor relationship, not W-2 employment. Clinicians establish their own availability and maintain independent clinical judgment. Applicants should currently have capacity to accept some evening and/or weekend clients. Contractors are responsible for their own applicable federal, state, and local tax obligations and do not receive W-2 employee benefits through Life Migration Therapy. Contractors maintain their own professional licenses, continuing-education requirements, applicable business/tax obligations, and professional liability insurance, while complying with applicable laws, ethical requirements, documentation standards, and practice administrative and client-care policies.
